How to Order Your Custom Bookcase or Bespoke Shelving
Ordering a handcrafted, made-to-measure bookcase from Nuthatch Creations is simple, straightforward, and completely tailored to your space. Here is how our custom order process works:
Step 1: Share Your Vision & Rough Measurements
Reach out to us via our contact form or phone. Tell us a bit about what you want to display (books, vinyl records, artwork) and share a quick photograph or rough measurements of your space.
Step 2: Custom Design, Material Selection & Quote
We will discuss your layout and guide you through custom option selections:
British Hardwoods: Choose from ethically sourced British oak, ash, walnut or sweet chestnut.
Finishes: Opt for a natural oil finish, or a bespoke hand-painted finish (such as Little Greene or Farrow & Ball), or unpainted for DIY.
Integrated Lighting: Add warm ambient LED strip lighting or integrated spotlights.
We then provide a clear fixed-price quotation.
Step 3: Workshop Handcrafting
Once you approve the design, your project enters our Herefordshire workshop. As a family-run business, we focus on one custom project at a time, selecting traceable timber from managed British woodlands and hand-crafting every joint and finish.
Step 4: UK Delivery
Freestanding Bookcases: Securely packaged and delivered straight to your door across England, Scotland, and Wales via UK-wide delivery.

We are a family run business, and we work on one project at a time in our workshop. Before placing an order we will let you know when we will be able to make your project.
Can I paint the bookcase myself later?
Yes we can provide a bookcase which you can paint yourself.
